The view outside my window

I didn't go outside in the snow on Saturday.  Instead I took a few photos from inside my cozy apartment so that you can see what I looked out at all day.

This was the view outside my kitchen window.

This is the building next door to mine.

This is the view from my living room looking at  the high school across the street.

A snowy day

Friday was beautiful!  Or at least I thought it was!  :)  It was snowing big fluffy snowflakes all afternoon.  Kim and I had gone out for lunch and then did a little looking at the shops in Old Town.  It was a wonderful afternoon of connecting with one another - sharing stories and laughter.  Oh, how I will miss this woman when she moves back to the states in May!  I'm trying to eek out as much wonderfulness with her as I can before then.

Another Student Life Birthday!

Romas is our chapel coordinator.  He is a Lithuanian, but volunteers with us (the rest of the Lithuanians at LCC are paid employees) beceause he wants to get involved in what we are doing here.  His birthday was on Friday, but he doesn't come in on Fridays, so we surprised him with a cake and flowers after chapel on Wednesday!  He was very surprised!  :)

The look of surprise and delight!

Look at the yummy cake!

The Birthday Boy!

The candles were trick candles, so he had to put them in a cup of tea to extinguish them!

Chapel

I took my camera to chapel today and took a few photos....

Happy Birthday Marietta!

The Staves had Marietta and a couple others (myself included) over to celebrate Marietta's birthday, which just happened to be on Valentine's Day.  We had a delicious dinner, great conversation, and fun celebrating the gift that Marietta is to us all!

We told Ieva that it was Marietta's 33rd birthday...close enough, right?!

Valentine's Cookies!

I made sugar cookies to pass out to my favorite people at LCC for Valentine's Day!

Blind Date

Res Life hosts an annual event called "Blind Date" each year.  It is a spin on the old tv show, the"Dating Game".  It's always a lot of fun and draws a big crowd!

Neumann Lobby was packed!

Leadership Fair

This week we are kicking off our Student Leader recruitment season.  We do a Leadership Fair in Michealsen Center where each leadership group creates a booth with information about what their group does.  The supervisors and current student leaders stand there to answer questions from students who are interested.

We had a photo spot in front of this banner highlighting the various leadership groups.

Welcome Back!

My team "broke" in my office the day before I returned and decorated it to welcome me back after my trip to the US for the ICSV.  It was so fun to walk into such a cheerful looking place and to know that they missed me (at least a little) while I was away.  :)

Trip to Florida!

I was blessed again to be asked if I wanted to attend the Institute on College Student Values at FSU in Tallahassee, Florida the first week of February.  Who turns down a trip to Florida in February?  Not me, that's for sure!  I attended the conference and spent a few days with friends in the Orlando area.  What a treat it was!

Dinner with some friends from the conference at a Mexican place...YUMM!

Blue skies, green grass and the AC running in the car!

I was so happy to see one of my favorite former RAs from GC - Bryce and to meet his fiance, Tabitha.

Patty flew down to see me for a few days!

We went to the beach and this was the sky above us as we layed out!

Ah, I love the ocean!

Dinner at Buca's - my fave!

Sunday tradition

Each Sunday after church I have a tradition with Ieva Stave.  We go across the street to the bridal shop to check out the dresses and decide whtich one we think is the prettiest.  Then on the ride home from church we pretend that we are going to a fancy ball and talk about what our dress, hair, accessories, etc look like.  It is so much fun to revel in "all things girlie" with Ieva.

Movie night with Viada and Andrea

Vaida is our Student Life Office Manager.  I couldn't get half my work done without her assitance and constant support!  I so enjoy working with her and think her daughter is a gem.  I invited them over for a movie night at my place to watch "The Sound of Music" - one of my favorite movies that I'm finding most Eastern Europeans haven't seen.  I enjoyed spending the evening with them and introducing them to one of my favorite things!  :)

Andrea couldn't stay awake through the entire movie!  :)

KVN

Each year our Intercultural Team hosts KVN - which is a Russian television comedy show.  It is so much fun!  I was asked to be a judge this year, which was a blast!  This year's theme was "Forever Young."
